Seen From the Jam 7 or 8 times... great gig they put on and spot on about Stu Hastings... Oh Tubestation on You Tube from their DVD at Hammersmith... me and my MATES are all over it...
Going over some sort of festival over Garons in Southend tomorrow... MATES band (the Mint) playing and me other MATES band (the Hot Rods) were meant to have been playing but lead singer Barrie Masters got pissed and broke his ribs so they are out... anyway... Marc Almond and Heaven 17... along with Big Minds (members of Simple Minds and Big Country by the sounds of it?) and a Style Council tribute band called the Style Councilors??? Should be a laugh

Went to see From The Jam for the first time last year . Avoided them for years thinking I’d be disappointed but , I have to say , they were superb . Russell Hastings is a more than able replacement for Weller and not such a cunt !

I love The Jam. All Mod Cons, Setting Sons and Sound Affects are classics, and they also had many great singles and B sides not on any of the albums. I don’t mind some of his stuff after that but it’s just not the same.
I saw him come on as a guest for The Rifles and that was something special.

It's very "Nick Drake". String arrangement sounds like it could have been written Robert Kirby.
It doesn't "do" much but it is very CALMING. I like it greatly. So there. You may enjoy it Eastside... even if it makes Wildwood sound punk.

Liked the jam and the style council , but for me wild wood is right up there with some of his best stuff he ever recorded absolutely brilliant album .

Loved the jam
Loved early Style Council (upto the first 2 albums)
Love the first 3 solo albums, and each new album has good tracks, some a lot some not so.
At least he try's different things.
Also Days of Speed and Studio 150 are great

To me Weller died before he got old - 11 December 1982.
Saw the Jam about a dozen times between 80 and 82, they were fantastic and Weller was the man. I never really forgave him for splitting up the Jam, saw him a couple of times as a solo artist. once at Brixton - half decent and once at the Roundhouse - boring as fuck.
For me its all about his early years

Funnily enough I saw him at the Garage when he was just coming back. Can recall seeing Mick Talbot in the crowd. But obviously missed my chance to see Northern Sold.
Probably the most interesting thing about Weller now is his Death Match contest with Gerry Francis to see which blinks in the fight to see which one changes his 40 year old hairstyle first.

Oh just spoke to my MATES that went jfk they all told me to call you a screaming Queen..... oh and that obviously Weller's a bit of a twat now... and that he was shit hot in the Jam... and was quite good in the Style Council... and that the Paul Weller Movement was not bad as we all went to watch him in the Garage in Highbury... and thet his first couple of solo albums were pretty good... and then after that it was a load of shit...

Saw him a few years back ... all of our other halves got us Weller tickets for the Cliffs Pav... I said to my MATES that it should be OK as long as he does not bring a new album out around that time... he did.. and he played the thing from start to finish... we walked out after an hour... shocking shit.... especially when comparing it to seeing the Jam at the same place in 82
